Nancy Holt: Hydra's Head

14th July 2026

In this new film, Lisa Le Feuvre, Executive Director of the Holt/Smithson Foundation, explores Nancy Holt's Hydra's Head (1974), one of the artist's earliest large-scale land art works.

Presented at Goodwood Art Foundation for the first time since its original installation in 1974, the site-responsive sculpture transforms six reflective pools into a powerful meditation on perception, astronomy and our relationship with the natural world.

Watch the film to discover the story behind Hydra's Head and explore its place within MoonSunStarEarthSkyWater, the most substantial presentation of Nancy Holt's work ever staged in the UK.
