What does it mean to really ‘see’ a landscape? How do the systems surrounding us define our relationship to the environment?
Join curator, writer and Executive Director of the Holt/Smithson Foundation Lisa le Feuvre for an evening dedicated to the work of American artist Nancy Holt. A defining figure of land art, Holt is the subject of our major exhibition, ‘MoonSunStarEarthSkyWater’. 
From her early experiments with photography, film and concrete poetry to landmark site-responsive earthworks such as Sun Tunnels (1973-76) and Hydra’s Head (1974), Holt transformed the way we think about landscape, light, space and perception.
The talk will include an opportunity to encounter Hydra’s Head (1974), Holt’s earthwork is recreated in the chalk quarry to reflect the changing skies above. Here the artist’s ideas about place, astronomy and perception come to life in a direct and immersive experience in our landscape.
